Trout Lake District Meet - Cross Country

Congratulations to all the runners who participated in the District Cross Country Meet this afternoon at Trout Lake.  We had nineteen runners from grades one, two and three representing our school in the final meet of the season.  They all ran hard and completed the course.  Way to go team!  A big thank you to Ms. Ogura and the parent volunteers for making this afternoon possible for the kids.  Most importantly, thank you to the cross country team for your dedication, determination and sportsmanship this season.  Be proud of yourselves!

Thankful

This week we read some beautiful books about Thanksgiving and being thankful.  During Library time, Ms. Ogura read us The Thankful Book, by Todd Parr.  The children wrote thankful poems, made handprint turkeys, and patched together their very own paper 'Thankful Quilt'.

This afternoon we made friendship fruit salad.  We are grateful for our friends and family.  The kids were so excited to share their fruits for the salad.  It was wonderful to see so many of you at school today, moms, dads, grandmas, caregivers and siblings.  Thank you all for coming!   We hope you enjoyed the ipad messages on the smart board and the Apples and Bananas song the class learned in Music with Ms. Morgan.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy the long weekend.

Bears!

As promised, here are the completed Old Bear paintings.  The children even added a little falling snow.  This project was inspired by a lesson on Deep Space Sparkle, a favourite art blog of mine. I love how all of the bears are different.  Come by and have a peek at the display in the hallway.
